Champions League Second Round : Shocking loss for Real Madrid and Man City First Win

Manchester City got their first victory of the Champions League campaign as David Silva’s late goal handed them a 2-1 win away to Hoffenheim in Group F.

Tuesday evening’s game was topped and tailed by goals, with Ishak Belfodil scoring inside a minute to put the hosts ahead at the Rhein-Neckar Arena before Sergio Aguero 8′ leveled things up not long after.

Man City should have been awarded a penalty in the 74th minute after goalkeeper Oliver Baumann took down Leroy Sane in the area, before David Silva (87) slotted home to seal the win for the visitors.

That’s the 1st win for Man City in the champions league this season after their loss from Lyon 2-1 on the previous round.

Nikola Vlasic’s early strike proved enough for CSKA Moscow to cling on for a famous win over Real Madrid in the Champions League.

Vlasic pounced on a rare error by Toni Kroos to fire the opener and the Russians defended resolutely and even survived the bizarre injury-time sending-off of goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev.

Mariano, Karim Benzema and Casemiro all hit the woodwork for Real while Luka Modric and Raphael Varane were among those who missed easy chances to drag their side back into the game.

Lopetegui started with Modric on the bench on a night which saw Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos miss out due to injury.

Manchester United made it four home games without a win with a lacklustre 0-0 draw with Valencia in the Champions League that keeps the spotlight on Jose Mourinho.

The United boss will have been looking for a response from his players after back-to-back defeats against Derby and West Ham but they rarely threatened and did not significantly test visiting goalkeeper Neto until the closing stages.

Marcus Rashford provided their only spark and clipped the crossbar with a free-kick but it was a similar tale of a lack of intensity in forward areas for United as the Spanish side – who are 14th in La Liga – controlled large parts of the game.

United is now without a win at Old Trafford in all competitions since the opening day of the season against Leicester.

Is it few days to hear about Manchester United new manager, as reported earlier this week Man united had meeting with Zidan to take over Mourinho
